Exhibition TextThis is a piece I was inspired to create by one of the most well known artist Michelangelo I was able to use his work as an inspiration of one of the well known piece he ever created Creation of Adam I wanted to chose this piece because of the recognition that there is because of the so well know two fingertips touching together at the center of the art piece. In this artwork of mine I will go in depth and explain how and why I was able to connect my artists work to mine and why I chose him.

Inspiration
For my inspiration I was able to find one of the most iconic and well know pieces to know which was Creation of Adam I decided to chose this art piece because how it connects to my painting. Michelangelo was a Italian artist of which he was able to create paintings in the ceiling with fresco paint. He illustrated Biblical narratives from the Book of Genesis in which God gives life to Adam, the first man alive.

I chose this to be one of my inspirations because of how it was able to connect to my artwork and how well I was able to connect to it. I found this to be one of the most inspiration I was able to find because of how it does not look similarly the same but I was able to get the concept that I was looking for into my art piece and how I was able to play around with the picture itself and get the right idea of what I wanted to my piece.

Planning
Throughout my process for this project I was able to create sketches of which I was able to create a human hand and a robotic hand, I found it pretty difficult to draw the robotic hand and be able to go into detail with it, however the process of me attempting to create this drawing in a sketch was something I found to be successful through my planning phase.
|
Moving onto creating both hands and being able to connect them and for them to touching fingertips, I found it pretty difficult to create this process in which I wanted to get the idea of both fingers to touch, in this case I instead drew both hands separately and draw them from different portions of the sketch. I found this to be easier and when doing this on the canvas I would know where to paint each hand from depending how high one hand would be from the other.
|
Techniques/ProcessMoving into the techniques that I was able to do during the process of painting this painting I found it pretty hard to actually paint a human hand and a robotic hand. I was surprised to what I came down to and what my final solution was in the end, however I was able to use techniques as such of me creating a blending color of titanium white, primary red, and bright yellow to create the base color of the human hand. On the contrary, I was simply able to make the base color of the robotic hand by simply mixing a titanium white color and black to make a light grey tone. Another technique that I was able to do while painting this artwork was for me to add a white exterior line that passes next to the human and robotic hand for the both to be able to become more exposed with the black background in the painting.

Reflection
Reflecting back to this artwork I can say that it was probably not my best work yet, however I found it to be very fun and interactive to attempting one of the most well known arts to ever be made. I personally feel that I could have done way more better, however I learned a lot from this artwork. I can also reflect back that throughout my process and planning I feel that I was more successful in this area compared to my final work. In the end, I can only say that I learned from my work and I can do much better for my next piece when I come back to this type of work.

ACT Responses
1) Clearly explain and describe how you are able to identify the cause-effect relationships between your inspiration and its effect upon your artwork.
I can explain and describe how I identified the cause and effect between my inspiration and effect on my artwork because of how I was able to use my inspiration as my biggest approach to this project.
2) What is the overall approach (point of view) the author (from your research) has regarding the topic of your inspiration?
The overall approach that I was going for regarding the topic for my inspiration was depicting the idea of the famous piece of work that was made by Michelangelo.
3) What kind of generalizations and conclusions have you discovered about people, ideas, cultures, etc. while you researched your inspiration?
The kind of generalizations and conclusions that I was able to discover about people, ideas, cultures is that there are reasons behind pieces of art like the inspiration that I chose and I say this because of so much background knowledge that his piece has and because of how it connects to a religious definition.
4) What was the central idea or theme around your inspirational research?
The central idea of theme around my inspirational research was mostly to base my art on the work of Michelangelo.
5) What kind of inferences (conclusions reached on the basis of evidence and reasoning) did you make while reading your research?
The inferences that I was able to make while reading my research was that I found it pretty hard to find some way of remaking this painting into a different perspective than a catholic and religious version of the painting.
